It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you that I’ll be retiring as the principal of this amazing school at the end of this year. For the past eleven years, I have had the absolute pleasure of leading Vinedale Elementary and helping to turn it into one of the most innovative and dynamic span schools in Los Angeles. In reflecting back over the past years, I’m thrilled about all the positive changes we have made, including strong increases in academic achievement, a reclassification rate for English Learners that has been one of the highest in our local district, our focus on Culturally Relevant and Responsive Education, personalized education, technology in every classroom, and the very positive changes in our overall college bound culture. I will miss our strong Home-School-Community connection through our family centered activities: Movie Nights, Talent Shows, Pumpkin Patches, Student of the Month Assemblies, and our Holiday Programs.

While I’m very proud of these changes, I’m most proud of the amazing staff that has come to call Vinedale home. This entire staff is filled with hard-working and remarkable people that care deeply about all of our kids! This is a “small learning community” full of leaders and learners who are philosophically-aligned to figuring out a better way to make education fun, engaging, and new; they never settle for what has been done in the past. I’m so proud of the work that has been done and am super excited about the team of teachers, parents, and administrators that will be here next year to continue the work. It is with eternal gratitude that I thank you for your support and help in making Vinedale College Preparatory Academy so wonderful! This has truly been something WE have done TOGETHER!  I will miss the exceptional people I have met over the past years and will always treasure the many fond memories of the students, parents, community, staff and faculty!

In closing, I bid you all a fond farewell, and know that Vinedale will be in good hands in the new year, 2020!
